I was raised in a family where honesty and fairness were core values. My parents taught me and my sisters the importance of kindness, respect, and serving others. I have vivid memories of my mother, a dedicated third-grade teacher, opening her classroom before school to provide students with essential items like pencils, notebooks, food, toothbrushes, toothpaste, towels, and soap. Many of these students came from families where resources were limited, and the school bus always seemed to arrive too early for them to be fully prepared. My sisters and I attended the same school where my mother taught, and I witnessed firsthand the powerful impact she had on her students. She would stay after school to tutor children whose peers had told them they would never be able to read. This experience shaped my understanding of the value of going out of your way to help others. Watching my family give so much to others, I learned the importance of compassion, generosity, and making a difference in the lives of those in need.
